SLFP,
the main coalition party of the ruling UPFA and the member parties is
to hold the party's May Day rally at Campbell Park in Colombo this year.
The rally which is themed as the "May Wave of Developing the Country" is
to be held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The SLFP
and UPFA May Day parade is slated to begin from the Nelum Pokuna Avenue
at 12 noon on May 1, said a spokesman of the SLFP.
Parties of the UPFA, trade unions, youth and women's wings affiliated to the SLFP are expected to participate in the parade.
The main opposition United National Party (UNP) is also to hold three rallies for May Day this year.
The main
rally is scheduled to be held in Pita Kotte on the morning of May 1,
while the rally to be held in Kurunegala will be a coalition meeting
with the Vipakshaye Virodhaya, which is to be attended by all parties in
the opposition coalition.
