26 Indian fishermen apprehended

mn4Sri Lanka Navy Friday arrested 26 Indian fishermen along with 5 trawlers in seas off Karainagar, Jaffna for crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line and poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters.
The group of fishermen, arrested Friday night, has been handed over to the Fishing Authorities in Kayts, navy spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.
Sri Lanka had on March 15 released 34 of 53 Indian fishermen arrested by its Navy recently. However, the other 19 fishermen are still in the custody of authorities
The release came a day after India summoned Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner and lodged a strong protest over the arrests.
