Railway trade unions have decided to call off their token strike
scheduled to be held from midnight today, demanding a solution for their
salary anomalies.
The Railways Professional Trade Union Alliance stated that they had
reached the decision to temporarily call off the strike action after
authorities had agreed to discuss the issue tomorrow (23).
Several railway trade unions were to take part in the token strike
claiming that earlier discussions on the matter have been futile.
However when inquired, Transport Minister Kumar Welgama had stated
that discussions were currently underway with trade unions regarding the
matter.
