Earlier, a police jeep was allowed 225
litres a month, while an additional 50 litres was provided according to
the service requirements. However, the full monthly total has been
reduced 180 litres, police authorities said.
Police motorbikes have only received a fuel allowance of 20 litres as of March 1 having earlier been allowed 40 litres.
Authorities claimed that it would be difficult to perform their duties with these cutbacks.
The Police spokesman said that this
decision was taken as a result of increasing fuel costs while stating
that steps are being taken to bring the situation back to normalcy.
