Meeting
the need of more hotel facilities to cater to the increasing number of
tourists arriving in the country, the Thambapanni Leisure group of Sri
Lanka has opened a new luxury boutique hotel in the southern beach town
of Unawatuna.
The newest addition to the Group's
portfolio of properties, Thaproban Pavilion Resort and Spa built with an
investment of Rs. 160 million opened its doors on Saturday (Mar 23).
The Thambapanni Pavilion, built with
unique architecture, blending with the Sri Lankan colonial era as well
as a mixture of the Dutch architecture, has eight duplex rooms and
another eight suites with private balconies all overlooking the Indian
Ocean. The management is considering to add further six rooms to the
hotel to meet the growing demand.
The Pavilion also introduces the first
fibre optic swimming pool in the area and many other features which
include a gym, kid's pool and a Spa.
According to the Managing Director of
the company Preshan Dissanayake the building of the hotel was completed
in just 18 months, eight months before schedule.
The group plans to invest on a similar hotel in Kalpitiya next year.
The Thambapanni group already owns and operates 20-room Thambapanni Retreat and 16-room ThaproBan in Unawatuna.
